Joseph E. Godfrey III, CLU, AEP

 

 

Joseph E. Godfrey III is involved with the planning and creation of financial products and strategies for clients, both individuals and institutions, which help them to build and preserve wealth and may help protect from creditors, tax collectors and the vicissitudes of life. He is a nationally renowned authority on estate, insurance and trust planning; executive compensation; employee benefits and retirement plans, with a special emphasis on Exit Strategies for private company business owners, including Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs).

 

He has published more than a dozen articles in professional journals and has made many professional presentations to diverse audiences around the country. He has been quoted in The New York Times, Forbes and Business Week. He has also taught programs on Life Insurance, Estate Planning, Exit Strategies and ESOPs. His extensive insurance, financial and tax planning background facilitated him in serving clients as an executive compensation consultant for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) as well as Wilmington Trust FSB, where he was a Managing Director.

 

He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Northwestern University. He was awarded a Columbia University Alumni Federation Medal for Distinguished Service and has been deeply involved with the Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York. He has a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and a certificate in Advanced Estate Planning (AEP) from the American College of Life Underwriters in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is a member and former director of the Estate Planning Council of New York City as well as a member and current director the Society of Financial Service Professionals.
